FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A: Yes, in 2000 we started to offer complete bike kits. Go to the Custom Kits section to see the info. on these kits.
We include all MSO's needed to register your completed kit as a California Customs, NOT a Special Construction as many others do.
A: The usual build time is about 12-14 weeks. Some variables may change that time depending on time of year order was placed, model, and options that may take longer to produce. Remember to add about 2 1/2 months from the time you order a bike.
A: Yup, let me put it this way. DaVinci signed his paintings, Ferrari puts a dancing black stallion on every car they build, Rolls Royce and Jaguar put their famous hood ornaments and logos on every car they build too so why wouldn't we want to put our name on a piece of art that we spent months designing and building by hand??? In the past we had been known to move it around and not always put it on the tanks but that will no longer be an option unless we feel it would greatly limit the paint job for the project. We do letter the logo to match the paint in most cases but the standard logo is silver metallic.
A: Yes, within certain limitations (thank the government here). But between the huge options list and the 25 models we can almost always get you what you're looking for.
A: Usually you can talk with us and we can help you decide what would work best for your type of riding, what you want to do with the bike, etc.
A: All of our custom built bikes are registered as California Customs.
A: Yes, Capital One Auto Finance has the best rates we've found. They are shown on our Financing page and have an easy to fill out online application that will get you started.
A: Again, since it's listed in the guide books you should have no trouble with insurance. We have found that Progressive and Geico seem to have the best rates unless you have an established relationship with your own carrier.
A: Yes, we don't sell through dealers any longer so we can build your bike for you and ship it to your door for you. Same goes for an unassembled kit. We can ship your kit to you anywhere you may be.
A: Take the bike to your local shop, have them assess the problem and call us with the information. We'll take it from there.
A: Nope, we design each bike with the client, then we assemble the bike by hand, no assembly lines here. We more closely resemble a custom one off building shop than other manufacturers. We don't mass produce bikes, every bike is built to order and no two bikes will ever be exactly alike, unlike ANY manufacturer out there and that includes Big Dog, Titan, BMC, Ultra, Bourget's, Wild West, American Performance Cycle, you name a manufacturer and we'll guarantee that they will sell you a bike that looks like a truckload of others on the road, or on the side of the road in some cases. Don't be fooled by a shiny paint job and some slick sales geek hawking so-called customs down at the local motorcycle "mall". Ask them for a complete parts list of the components used to build your bike. They aren't going to have one but if they do, take a look at it and then compare it to what we use. We give every client a complete parts list BEFORE we even start building the bike.
A: Yes, we test ride each bike for 100 miles. At 50 miles the bike gets a full service, and then another 50 miles is put on the it. Any problems that may come up are fixed before the customer takes delivery.
A: It is very similar to the schedule for a late model Harley Davidson. We provide every customer with a maintenance schedule.
A: The mileage is generally in the area of 25 MPG city and 35 MPG highway, with the exception for the Nomad Convertible R/S. The Nomad has been tested at 25 MPG city and 45 MPG highway, mostly due to the improved aerodynamics.
A: Yes, in addition to numerous press releases, our bikes have been featured in such magazines as Hot Bike, Quick Throttle, Easyriders, VQ and Iron Works. Check out the What's New page for a listing of those articles.
A: Our 96 cu. in. motor puts our about 97 hp at the rear wheel and over 103 ft. lbs. of torque.
A: Yes, we do rigids, Softail* style and rubber mount bikes.
A: Yes, with over 20 years of experience in bike building and customizing, our shop can do almost anything you want to your HD. We also do full service and repairs on American bikes.
A: No, we don't build a specific "girls bike". We design every bike or kit to the customer's specs and needs so we can design any of our models to fit any rider's stature and needs.
*THE WORD SOFTAIL IS USED ONLY AS REFERENCE TO STYLE. WE ACKNOWLEDGE SOFTAIL AS A TRADEMARK OF HARLEY DAVIDSON. WE ARE NOT AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF HARLEY DAVIDSON.
